Après les Swans, il sortit entre autres deux disques enthousiasmants et bien foutus avec son projet The Angels of Light. Il en réalisera bientôt (2003) un nouveau sous ce nom, intitulé 'Everything Is Good Here/Please Come Home'. Gira conserve en même temps son récent Young God Records sur lequel il découvrait y a peu, l'enfant prodige de 21 ans Devendra Banhart.
