Nommé d'après le disque envoyé dans l'espace à bord de la sonde Voyager en '77, ‘The Golden Record', son premier véritable effort, sortira au printemps via l'influent label Secretly Canadian (cf. jj, Suuns, Antony & The Johnsons,...). Ce premier opus a été enregistré à Montréal et à New York, dans le home studio de The National qui, du coup, apparaît sur l'album, tout comme certains membres de A Silver Mount Zion, Stars et Arcade Fire. Sur le plan musical, on la classera entre Scout Niblett, Patti Smith et Cat Power.
