Né à Kingston en 1945, Cornell Campbell , surnommé "l'Original Gorgon", a commencé à chanter à l'âge de 11 ans. Il a travaillé avec "The Skatalites", fondé le groupe "The Sensations" avec Jimmey Riley, puis le groupe "The Eternals". Il a alors débuté une carrière solo chez Channel One de Bunny Lee. Cornell Campbell est un pilier de la musique jamaïcaine.
